An international accord has been reached with China on leveling data collection efforts associated with the measurement of GHG reductions, the Washington Post reported today. The EPA announcement says that China's National Development and Reform Commission would work with the U.S. in several areas, including "capacity building for developing greenhouse gas inventories." Efforts are already underway on SO2 emissions.
Julian L. Wong, a senior policy analyst at the Center for American Progress, was quoted by the Post as saying: "I have to imagine this represents an increased and intensified effort to get China on the path of measuring and reporting its greenhouse gas emissions in a way that's internationally acceptable."
