Denise Bode, serving her second year as head of the American Wind Energy Association, expressed confidence during an interview with Greenwire that climate legislation would pass this year even with mid-term elections upcoming. She was quoted as saying: "It's our mission to win. Because if we don't, we lose an opportunity that likely won't come back again here in the U.S."
Even if the federal government does not act on capping carbon emissions, Bode said she believed states would. She said: "Many of those plants are going to be spending billions of dollars to try to put very expensive scrubbers on. It is much less expensive to move to natural gas and to wind and renewables because it will save consumers money."
